The starting point of the Slit Shelving System is the observation of the “in-between space” formed between two panels. Rather than treating this slit as a purely structural detail, the design understands it as an active space that can accommodate functions and different forms of use.
At the centre of the shelving system runs a continuous slit into which modules can be attached from above or below. Through this opening, various add-on elements such as a mini table, a light, a hook, a power outlet, or a bookend can be integrated. This allows the system to be configured according to different needs and adapted to a range of situations.
The shelving structure and its add-on modules were conceived together from the outset, with their connection built into the design logic. Within the same basic framework, different combinations can create display, work, or storage functions, developing a consistent design language throughout the space.
