Reversible Chair is a dual-height chair designed to accommodate both children and adults by simply flipping it over. Children’s chairs often become obsolete as the child grows, leading to unnecessary waste. This project began by questioning that problem — why must a child's chair be thrown away when it becomes too small?
The solution lies in height. By designing a chair with two different seat heights — one on each side — the Reversible Chair offers longevity and flexibility. When positioned one way, it provides a lower seat for children. Flip it over, and it becomes the right height for adults.
Its intuitive form makes the function easy to understand at a glance. The aluminum rod frame makes the chair lightweight and easy to lift, flip, and move. It also functions as a handle for children to grip safely while seated. The frame is bent from aluminum alloy and powder-coated in red. The seat is made from sewn fabric, designed to slip easily onto the frame.
